Dacor Refrigerator Error Codes

Dacor Refrigerator Error Code F4

If you see error code F4 on your Dacor refrigerator, it means that the defrost sensor has failed. The defrost sensor is responsible for detecting the temperature of the freezer compartment during the defrost cycle. If the sensor fails, the refrigerator will not be able to defrost properly, which can lead to a buildup of ice and frost in the freezer.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot error code F4:

  1. Check the defrost sensor for proper placement. The defrost sensor is typically located on the back of the freezer compartment, near the evaporator coils. Make sure that the sensor is properly seated and that the wires are not damaged.
  2. Check the defrost sensor for continuity. You can use a multimeter to check the continuity of the defrost sensor. If the sensor does not have continuity, it will need to be replaced.
  3. Check the defrost cycle. The defrost cycle should run for approximately 30 minutes every 12 hours. If the defrost cycle is not running properly, it could be due to a problem with the defrost timer, defrost heater, or defrost control board.

If you have checked the defrost sensor for proper placement and continuity, and the defrost cycle is running properly, you will need to replace the defrost sensor.

To replace the defrost sensor:

  1. Unplug the refrigerator from the power outlet.
  2. Remove the back panel of the freezer compartment.
  3. Locate the defrost sensor.
  4. Disconnect the wires from the defrost sensor.
  5. Install the new defrost sensor.
  6. Reconnect the wires to the defrost sensor.
  7. Replace the back panel of the freezer compartment.
  8. Plug the refrigerator back into the power outlet.

If you are not comfortable troubleshooting or replacing the defrost sensor yourself, you should contact a qualified appliance technician.
