LG Refrigerator Major Issues

Lg Refrigerator Water Leakage

LG refrigerators are a popular choice for many homeowners. They have a sleek design and many features that make them a great choice for your home kitchen. However, like all appliances, they can sometimes malfunction. One common problem that LG refrigerator owners experience is water leaking from the fridge. If this happens to you, don’t panic! Let’s discuss five reasons why your LG refrigerator is leaking water and what to do about it.

Why Your LG Refrigerator Is Leaking Water

If you notice water leaking from an LG refrigerator, it can cause all sorts of damage to your home, so it’s important to take care of the problem immediately.

1: Water Line Leaks

One common reason for water leaks from an LG fridge is a loose or damaged water line. The water line is the hose that runs from your fridge to the water supply. If this hose becomes loose, it can cause water to leak out. To fix this problem, simply tighten the connection or replace the damaged hose. It can also become frozen which can result in a leak as well, if it’s frozen hot air from a hairdryer may be all you need to fix it.

2: Defrost Drain Leaking

A clogged defrost drain is another typical cause of a leaky LG refrigerator. When the fridge enters defrost mode, the defrost drain opens and allows water to escape. If this drain is clogged, water may back up and leak from the refrigerator. Simply unblock the drain and check to see whether anything has blocked it.

3: Leaking From Ice Maker

Another reason for when an LG refrigerator is leaking water is the ice maker. The ice maker is located in the freezer compartment and produces ice for your fridge. If the ice maker becomes damaged, it can cause water to leak out. To see if this is your problem, simply turn off the ice maker and see if the leak stops. If it does, then you will likely need to replace the ice maker.

4: Water Filter Leaks

Another common source of water leaks is the water filter. The water filter is located in the back of the fridge and filters the water for your fridge. If this filter becomes loose or damaged, it can cause water to leak out.

To fix this problem: First, make sure the filter isn’t loose. If it is, then tighten it and see if that fixes the leak. If the filter is damaged, or clogged, then you will need to replace it. Make sure to buy an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) replacement filter to ensure it fits properly and does not leak. Don’t purchase an off-brand filter, because these often have issues.

5: Leaky Drain Pan

The final source of leaks is the drain pan. The drain pan is located under the fridge and catches any water that leaks out.

If this pan becomes damaged, it can cause water to leak out. To fix this problem, you will need to replace the drain pan.

If the drain pan fills up, it can also cause water to leak out. To fix this problem, simply empty the drain pan and make sure it is not obstructed.

Hopefully, one of these five reasons solved why your LG refrigerator is leaking water, but if not, then you may have a more serious problem and will need to call a repairman. In the meantime, try to catch the water with towels to prevent any further damage.
