Kitchenaid Washer Error Codes

Kitchenaid Washer Error Code F06

Error code F06 on your KitchenAid washer indicates a problem with the drive motor tachometer, which is responsible for detecting the motor speed during different phases of the washing cycle. The washer is unable to determine the motor speed, and this can result in various issues with the machine’s operation.

  1. Shipping System Check:
    • Shipping bolts, spacers, or cables from the shipping system may not have been removed before installation.
  2. Wire Harness Connections:
    • Loose or damaged wire connections between the drive motor and Motor Control Unit (MCU).
    • Faulty connections between the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU).
  3. Motor and MCU Operations:
    • Malfunctioning drive motor.
    • Issues with the Motor Control Unit (MCU).

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Shipping System Check:

    • Ensure that all shipping bolts, spacers, and cables from the shipping system are removed. This step is crucial for the proper functioning of the washer.
  2. Wire Harness Connections:

    • Unplug the unit and disconnect power.
    • Examine the wire harness connections between the drive motor and MCU, and between the MCU and CCU.
    • Reconnect any loose or damaged wires securely.
  3. Motor and MCU Operations:

    • Reconnect power and plug in the unit.
    • Check the MCU by observing the operations of the drive motor.
    • Inspect the drive motor for powered rotations.
    • If the drive motor or MCU is found to be faulty, it’s recommended to replace the failed component.

If the F06 error occurs during a high-speed spin, the door will be unlocked after three minutes. This is a safety feature designed to prevent potential hazards. Should the issue persist or if you are unsure about any aspect of the troubleshooting process, it is advisable to seek professional assistance.
